We were interviewed by Shannon Scott on CBC North’s the Trailbreaker on September 3, 2025. We had the chance to share about our plans for the former Akaitcho Hall site.

It has been more than 30 years since Akaitcho Hall closed its doors. For decades before that, Indigenous children lived in the residence while attending school in Yellowknife. Now, a local organization has decided to build an arts centre on the lot that once housed the hall. Sara Komarnisky is a development specialist for the NWT Art Centre Initiative.
